The main point of the Rayon yields index insurance is the following: the Insured will get the indemnity in case if the yields level of the insured crop in a particular Rayon where the fields of the Insured are located falls below the guaranteed level because of any weather event. The guaranteed level is the average Rayon yield on the basis of 15 years period Rayon yield statistics.

Main features of the Rayon yields index insurance:

  1. Are insured and reinsured on treaty bases such crops as winter wheat, winter rye, spring barley, corn, sunflower seeds and sugar beet.
  2. Valuation basis is future crop value. The value of 1 ton of grain should be agreed between Insurer and Insured.
  3. The cover provided is each and every weather event, which may result in reduction of the Rayon yield, reported officially below a guaranteed cover level.
  4. The guaranteed yield cover levels can be 70%, 60% and 50% of the average perennial Rayon yield as reported by Rayon officials.
  5. The yield level required by Insured should be confirmed by the Form 29-SH for at least 3 years.
  6. Period of insurance: from the appearance of the shoots (therefore for winter crops it starts in the fall) until a date which varies depending on crop type, or until harvesting, whatever happens earlier.
  7. Pre-insurance survey and loss adjustments are not necessary.
  8. Minimum size of the acreage per farm is not limited.
  9. Triggers:
    1. occurrence of the insured peril;
    2. failure of the Rayon yield below a guaranteed yield level
  10. Confirmation of insured perils occurrence should be done by closest Hydrometeo station through issuing a certificate.
  11. Reporting about insured event by Insured during 3 working days.
